G'day all.
I've had my P6B for a couple of years now, and hope to share info and advice, as well as general info with other enthusiasts.

Cheers

G'day Agget,

How are things in sunny Queensland?

Please tell us about your P6B.

Southerly change just moving through, very nice indeed!

I'll put a run down of what I've done to my car so far in the Project forum. I'll be in Newcastle for the second half of November, without the car unfortunately. Where abouts are you?

Hello Agget,

I will look forward to seeing info on your car in the Project forum. I live in Sydney, southern suburbs. I posted some info and pics of my P6B in this section when I became a member.

I just read your welcome post, and yes, this does seem to be the spot to give a rundown of my P6B. So here be the story of me and the "Bludog".

I'm a mechanic with the Air Force, and have had my share of different vehicles over the years, but I never had any great interest in Rovers. My Father has two old Austins (A90 & A99) and therefore my interest was with these old girls. Plus I had a couple of 70s Holden Statesmans with rather large V8s pushing them along. And in fact it was while having major dramas converting the second one of these to fuel injection that the P6B entered my life. My mate Bob had been asked to fix it up so that it could be sold, but after checking the car over, Bob told him it wasn't worth the cost. So the guy told Bob he could have the car. I now needed a second vehicle (baby on the way) and the Statesman was looking like a long term problem. So I kindly offered to take the Rover off Bobs hands, which he was happy with. Now I have to admit, I've always thought of the P6 series as being very handsome cars, and ironically, my Father was a Rover salesman in Lusaka (Zambia) in the 60s.
The car turned out to be a gem. Bought new in 1977 and used very little, it was inherited by the son who sat her in a shed for six years (with her bum sticking out by the condition of the paint). I then acquired her through Bob, and she had still not quite covered 50 000 km. To get her running smoothly, I cleaned out the fuel filter and gave her a tune up. And all I needed for registration was a set of new tyres. I now had a second car to use. She was christened the "Bludog" and over the next two years I did the following.
Complete overhaul of the brake system, new shockies, new fuel pump and twin filter set up, change to pod style air filters (the purists may want to stop reading now), conversion to an electric water pump and twin thermo fans, electronic ignition and cruise control. New radiator, front grill and a cd player with decent speakers in the front doors. SD1 mags painted Gunmetal grey with a light metallic flake and a respray in a Blue that I like. I will post photos at a later date, as I have only just finished putting all the bright work back on.
Currently she is going through a full internal restoration with all the trim being replaced to match the reclining bucket seats I fitted. I have also had the exhaust modified so that it has twin 2 inch outlets and sounds nice. Although I doubt it's as good as the rumble coming out of Ron's.

Cheers.

G'day Agget,

"Bludog" does sound like an interesting Rover. :50,000km since 1977..wow...not even worn in....D

Did you fit the twin electric fans behind the radiator? Where did you fit the electric waterpump?

I have seen another P6B with cruise control fitted. The owner loved it. How do you find yours? Was it difficult to install?

Twin exhausts....out each side? Very cool 8)

I am certainly looking forward to seeing some pics when you have them ready to post.

Have you joined the N.S.W Rover Owner's Club too?

Ron.
