Grab Handles? - were they ever fitted?

hi everyone
I'm wondering if grab handles (also known as passenger assist handles) were ever fitted to the P6? They're the handles that are fitted above the door onto the headlining above the doors to help occupants alight from the car.

I'm hoping yes as dear old Mumsie is finding it difficult to get herself out of my Aussie '75 3500. If yes, are they easy to fit? And if yes, has anybody got three for sale ... tho I'll settle for one!
cheers, Franklin

Sorry Franklin - they were never fitted. But there is a suitable strong point in the right area, so i suggest you scour your local scrappy for something thats visually sympathetic and get drilling! The best spt is into the hard rail at the outer/lower edge of the roof trim. This is independant of the body, despite appearances the roof trim is a single section unittrapped in under the roof - check out the parts manual for a clearer picture. So you would be drilling into the edge bracing rail below the roof trim material. Try that first and if you don;t think it's firm enough drill further into the base unit roof perimeter rail.

Best of luck in a worthy cause!

Chris

Thanks for the quick reply Chris - I'll add it to list of things to do, in the meantime, it looks like the ovlov 850 estate will have to suffice as the taxi!
cheers franklin
