Headlamp relays and fuses

Hi, with the engine running and the lights working all the power will come from the
alternator, so why not take your feed straight off the back of the alternator?

I could take the feed from the alternator, and the ammeter would still function correctly too. I would have to tap into one of the brown/white wires that runs between the alternator and the shunt. I don't think there's a difference between these electrically. The wiring diagram shows two wires connected in parallel. Presumably Rover used two wires because the high current load, is too much for a single wire. Running a wire directly to a new fusebox on the inner wing would minimise the length of any unfused wires, but it does move the fusebox back to where it's more exposed. Hmm, more thinking to be done.....
