headlight settings / wirings

Hi again,

I want to accomplish the following on my P6. I'm having H4 in the outer headlamps and H1 in the inner ones.
Status quo: right now the outer headlamps are dipped beam only (although they are H4). Inners are high beam only. When on outer headlamps are on too as dipped beam.
Desired behaviour: all 4 headlamps are use for dipped beam and outer headlamps for high beam with inner ones on.

Is that something I can do or do I need an expert for this?

Anyone who can help from the distance

Thanks

Thomas
PS: there were sealed beams fitted before a mechanic put in the H4 to get the MOT/TÜV over here. Do I need relays or ...

Ohh .. thanks will have a look again and re-read it.

Cheers
Thomas

Update: didn't help much.
Since my headlamps are already on H4/H1 I only look for handy tips how to change behaviour. I'd like to have 4 headlight as dipped beam

It depends what you want to do with the car.... If you use it on sunny days only then perhaps status quo is adequate, if irritating. If you use it as a general driver then I would want to get good quality (Cibie?) replacement halogen lenses in all four positions. Then you need to investigate Austrian regs to see if it would be permissable to have 4 X dipped beam. If so my inclination would be to have them wired so that you had 4 X dipped beam and for main beam 4 X main beam with the 4 X dipped beam also lit. That would definitely want relays - especially if you cheated and put high wattage bulbs in.....

All depends on your local regs really.

Hi,
I do have the Cibie/Valeo lamps already (ca. 28 Euros per unit herr in Austria). I will investigate if it's legal to have dipped beam and high beam on.

Thanks

Thomas

Update: your design would mean to have 4xH4??

ok, for anyone in Austria/Germany. The legal setup is afaik: outer headlights for dipped beam, inner for high beam with outer headlamps dipped. :(
spot/fog lights can be used under any conditions.
