High idle, no fuel gauge, oil pressure, temp stop lamps or indicators

The series 2 P6B has been sat since December. The battery was completely flat. Charged it over night but it only starts with a booster pack

It runs and drives fine but the idle sits at 1500, the fuel, temp and oil gauges don't work. The screen washers don't work. The indicators and stop lights don't work. Occasionally the ignition light flashes on but goes off

Help?

I've just looked at the fuse box and none of the descriptions seem to match any of the items not working

Are all the fuses behind the glove box?

Hi, You've got more than one fault, the high idle is either the idle screw wants adjusting or there's a vacuum leak, try squirting oil around the throttle spindles if that slows it down then the throttle spindles have too much play. The gauges not working sounds like it's the voltage regulator is faulty. The indicators not flashing properly could be down to low battery voltage, put a new or better battery on it. Put a volt meter on the battery with it running and if the voltage is low then suspect the alternator.

With a good battery it now starts fine. The ignition light is doing this (and the ammeter is flickering)
The indicators still don't work

Is the voltage regulator in the engine bay? It is a suffix D chassis if that's any use

Hi, The ignition light is probably the regulator or brushes in the alternator. The voltage regulator is fixed to the back of the instrument cluster. The indicators is probably a bad connection somewhere, switch, flasher can, or maybe the hazard light switch. Try working the hazard switch in and out a number of times.

AFAIK only the temp and fuel gauge are on the volatge regulator, as its on the back of that unit. Oil pressure is not regulated. Check the contacts on the plugs on the panel - clean pins, Deoxit.

All gauges and lights now fixed with a new fuse at 19 / 20. I now know what i did to blow it (connected a too powerful fan)

Hopefully do the alternator brushes next and then search for the vacuum leak

In the meantime i may remove the fuel sender to see why fuel is leaking out of it :)
