Just got my insurance renewal at £361.00

This is with £200 excess, and £90.00 windscreen excess, and 5,000 miles mileage.

I tried a few others and have quotes for between £112.60 and £155.00

Lancaster quoted £112.60 with 6,000 miles, £100.00 excess, and £60.00 excess for windscreen.

All mods reported, and £112.60 fully comp. I am quite pleased at this. :D

I am old though 8)

If you're with who I seem to recall you saying you were with, my old man was quoted about £370 to insure his X Type Jaguar with them last year. His renewal was nearly £600. So what you're saying about a high renewal really doesn't surprise me.

I think in general insurance quotes have gone up recently, my mondeo cost me about £370 to insure last year with unlimited mileage, now I've turned 25 and have 6 years no claims, the renewal came out at £570  . Shopping around got me down to £490 though  . When I queried as to why it went up so much, the guy on the other end taking my money just said lots of people are asking that question now. It does look like some companies aren't affected though.

i got my insurance with footman james this week at £100
this was unlimited mileage!
i usually go for 1500 miles and this was £83.67 which i thought was good.
i also now have breakdown cover with it so i can go further now than just local!
it makes every trip an adventure!, not knowing if you're gonna make it or not!

oh god!#
that means either my car is a heap and i'm an old git!
probably guilty on both counts!
hey-ho!

No lol, it just means mine is modified

Wow, good saving. I had a similar experiance although my renewal was not as high as yours being a 2000auto. But shopping around got a better deal. Recently for my bike I saved a wad, the renewal for my CRB 600 fx 3rd party f&f was £140. I got fully comp from the AA for £90!! :D

So not just crazy things going on with classic cars.

Just had an email from the original company asking for £393.00 which includes breakdown cover.

I phoned them and told them not to renew as they have obviously ignored my email to be told that they can do better. They then quoted £105.00

That's just crazzzzzzzzzzy.

Just renewed with Footman James. £370 for all seven cars, me & the missus driving & me able to drive other peoples cars, 2 insured to live in the street & the normal agreed values...etc. I don't bother getting other quotes while they keep this up.

Mine with Boncaster is £107 including legal protection
They were once P6ROC recommended and I've been with them since 1995 and the premium has only gone up by about £10

I've got my house covered with RIAS ( for the over 50's ) and that hasn't changed much in the last 4 years although SAGA seem to be trying to persuade me to come back to them

what mods would make your insurance go up then?
mine has a few different things but they were all ignored .
i suppose
until if i ever have a claim i suppose!

I once had a very nice early BMW E36 2.5 coupe. As it was built before the M3 of that model was created so the original owner had got BMW to retro fit all the M3 panels and wheels etc to it. Was fully loaded. Anyway I was with More Than and I told them of the modifications. At the time they did not add any extra to the premium but they said in the event of an accident I would have to pay the difference between the correct panels for the car and the ones fitted. All other work would be paid of. Sounded ok to me.
Anyway a few months later the bloody handbrake failed and it rolled back (on private land) into the side of a lorry. Cost over a grand for a new rear bumper, valence, lights and a few other bits. They did not in the end make me pay or the extra. :)
