Intake Manifold / Valley Gasket Sealant Question

Guys,

Just reading the workshop manual and I'm scratching my head where to put the gasket sealant as I can't quite comprehend the instructions! :)

Step 28 as per the photo - What does it mean by corners of the head? Should I be reading this as applying the gasket sealer just around the water passage joints on the head, both sides of the gasket and the manifold? Not around the fuel / air passage joints?

When I took the valley gasket off it was hard to tell if any sealer was there, it just looked like a thin bead of varnish that peeled off.

Last question, my new wallet gasket seems to have front stamped on the wrong end as the square notch sits at the left rear, and not front right as per the manual, I assume the position of the notch is the important factor?

I'm not sure what you mean by the square notch but I've always taken 'the corners' to mean where the ends of the 2 rubber valley gasket seals meet the corners of the lifter valley and the bottom corners of the cylinder head inlet manifold faces.
Wynn's black gasket maker, the stuff in a pressurised tube isn't particularly cheap but has worked well for me in the past.

Thanks, yes, that makes sense re: the corners.
Standing at the front of the car, if you look at the intake manifold the second bolt hole from the front left is a square cutout and the gasket has a matching cutout also which according to the manual lines up, except that makes the ‘front’ embossed on my gasket from Win’s back to front.

For the water channels do you apply sealer on all the head, both sides of the gasket and the intake on yours?

Hi, Just apply gasket sealer around the water gallery ports, both sides of the gasket or head and manifold faces. See more choices. ;):)
