Lockheed rebuild question

I have a couple rather specific rebuild questions about a Lockheed Tandem servo cylinder

1) In the primary piston push rod assembly, there is a
pin that retains the spring and push rod in the piston
(page 51 in your manuals for those following at home)
Now, does the pin go on the diaphragm side of the
spring (compressing the spring toward the front) or
on the other side (compressing the spring toward the
diaphragm)? Oddly, the manual does not seem to
mention this. I suppose I am just supposed to know,
but there you go.

2) My rebuild kit came with an additional spring,
slightly wider than the one in the piston already and
a triangular plate (not the locking plate, but it
looks sort of like it). I am familiar with the idea
that rebuild kits have extra parts you may not need
for your specific rebuild, but strangely, the same
pieces were with the primary cylinder when I
dissassembled it. However, they do not appear
anywhere in the manual and I haven't a clue about
them. Any thoughts gentlemen? Throw them in the trash
and hope I don't have to stop in a hurry?

Thanks very much in advance.

I have a 2000/2200 workshop manual. Here's the pertinent paragraph on the pin:
"Hold the small spring within the piston back towards the diaphragm end of the push rod, and insert the small pin into the hole in the push rod, ensuring that the end of the spring rests against the pin and that it does not pass through the coil of the spring."

I have posted instructions from my servo kit on our website. You can see the instructions on your screen or elect to print them. The kit includes parts for an upgrade which the instructions detail with diagrams.

I have just dismantled a pair of twin servos from my daily driver P6. One servo had the earlier configuration and the other had the upgrade using the new bits. If you need, I can photograph and post those two push rods.

You can find the photos on our website:

Thanks Eric! Just what I needed to know. The servo is now all reassembled, so the car should stop, if it ever gets moving . . .
