Lucas Square 8s query

I've been keeping my eye out for Lucas Square 8 lights in various places and in particular on eBay. Most of the listings are for a pair of lights made up of a foglight and a spotlight. Was this a standard fit for Rover to have one foglight and one spotlight? Seems slightly bizarre if it was :?

Cheers Dave

I think that is correct Dave.

One lamp would shine ahead and the other would light up the white line on the road side.

stick the fog lamp on the near side, to light the kerb, and the spot lamp on the offside to light up the road ahead.

I think it was done this way because when you put your lamp switch to "FOG", your headlamps switch off, so you need the spot lamp to see your way!!!

After fitting mine, I took mine for a drive round some country lanes in the dark. the Fog lamps were almost better than the headlamps - and that's with one halogen spot lamp lighting up the distance in place of the sealed beams giving their candle-lit glow!

If you look at a pair of Square 8's how do you know if they are fogs or spots ? I take it the fog lamp doesn't have a yellow bulb
