Hello All, I Have a spare 1976 rover p6 3500 V8 4 speed manual in almond yellow. the car just needs an mot. i dont use it as i have the exact same one that i use all the time. this spare car is totally complete and would proberly pass an mot but i dont know what to do with it. i dont know weather to break it for spares on eBay, i know its a shame but it would keep other P6`s on the road. is there much call for spare parts in the UK and does anyone have any idea what a complete P6 V8 would make if it was completely broken for spares. thanks

I fully understand your quandry. It seems fairly certain that the most favourable financial outcome is to break it. You'd attract a huge amount of tutt tutting on here though and from the tone of your question I reckon your conscience might take a hammering too?

The downside of breking a car is that it is a very large amount of work and a pretty large amount of hassle with Ebay.

P6's are very low value without an MoT. Why not see if you can easily get an MoT and then realise the greater value of an MoT'd car?

A car can be worth £1500 on parts depending on the quality and wear. there is the major downside of doing it and storing the bits or having a part stripped car at your house. Then you have the people who want to get bits for nothing, they really grind my gears...

If the car is complete and a runner it could be worth selling on to someone looking to get into p6. Maybe if you mention which region that you live in some one may be interested.

I have the same problem with a 1971 3500s but when u say p6's have a pretty low value with out mot what sort of ruff price am I looking at for a light resto project ?

The answer to that depends on what you can do yourself and what you are wanting.

I have patched up p6 in the past for a few hundred but I can weld and do most of the work myself. If the body needs paint then you can add £500+ for a start.

Get in touch with your local Regional organiser, you will get loads of good advice and if you need parts they are bound to know where to get them without getting ripped off.

Hi, yes i think i will keep my spare P6. i will see if it goes through an mot in a couple of weeks and if not then i will look on ebay for what ever parts i need. i have been told that eBay is a good place to get Rover P6 Spares. cheers

Just wondered what mine was worth as I dont have the time to do or the space, doing the work is not a problem, its what I do for a living restoring cars.
