NEC Classic Motor Show

Now you've done it. I dribbled all over my desk! I've got that model too. 8)

Denis's car, when I saw it, had the appearance of having been pushed into a Carcoon in 1966, and having emerged, in perfect preservation, in 2005. It's got the very rare (particularily in the UK) short lived Buffalo leather interior (very deep brown, almost black), wood gear knob, wood steering wheel.

It is so good I'm glad it doesn't come out very often as no-one else would win any trophies :)

Thank you to everyone who called to see us on The Rover P6 Club display at the NEC over the weekend. I hope you enjoyed the display of 10 cars that we had and that you found the other 4 P6's that were dotted around the halls. I believe after talking to various members of the Press, that there were more P6's involved in this years show than any other individual model of classic car.
Hopefully this can only be good for our cars in general.

Just received the January 2010 issue of Classic Cars for Sale and there's a picture of the massive Rover P6 Club display at the NEC, with some of the gang of over 70 members, who manned it over the weekend, including myself, in a NEC dedicated article.

However I was most annoyed to read the caption on the picture, because the item author had managed to confuse our club with the press release of the p6roc and put a picture caption that says, quote "Photo call for Rover P6 Club that's now to be run as a business"

As you can imagine, I have already put a complaint into the CCFS Editor explaining the situation of the P6roc to the 'best of my knowledge' and I've demanded an apology in the next CCFS magazine. I have also told him that it's the p6roc, that is 'to be run as a business' which was the 'club', that wasn't able to fulfil its commitments to the NEC this year and also told him that, I am very annoyed that inaccurate press releases by the p6roc have obviously been designed to confuse.

The Rover P6 Club run by enthusiastic amateurs, is proud to say, 13 of the Rover P6's present at the NEC Event belonged to Rover P6 Club members and the 14th P6 belonged to a RSR member.

..and how many of those P6 Owners were ALSO members of the P6ROC Mark?

Has anyone actually seen sight of this 'Press Release' from the P6ROC ?

I have heard that the RP6C where telling everyone in hearing shot of the "P6ROC problems" at the NEC.

Is it possible that this crowing to the crowds has backfired on them.

Unfortunately a senior member of P6ROC was indeed breifing the press at the NEC.

..and who the Hell was that then?

Nothing has been mentioned to the remaining Committee Members to my knowledge
..and believe me when I say I would get to hear pretty fast.

The wording of the article in January 2010 Classic Cars for Sale is as follows:

"P6 CLUB IS THE BUSINESS The Rover P6 Owners Club is changing from a voluntary-run operation to a fully blown business. The move is hoped to encourage more owners to help out with the club which is at present stretched."

That is the only mention I can find in the magazine apart from the Rover P6 Club photo with the wrong caption.

Hi Oracle

I didn't ask any of the P6 exhibitors if they were P6ROC members, I had no cause to. That said, as far as I am aware, none of the 13 directly connected with the RP6C at this particular event, have ever been asked to be involved on a P6ROC NEC display.
If any of them at this year's event are current P6ROC members, then hyperthectically, the P6ROC could have had enough cars to fill the display space that was originally granted to the P6ROC.

If you would like to email me at editor@p6club.com I will forward you a scan of the press release and the picture with caption that offended me so.

I don't recall telling anyone about the "P6ROC problem" as you put it, but I do remember being asked questions by P6ROC members who made their presence known at the event, which needed to be answered by P6ROC representatives.

Were there any P6 representatives there ?

Mark , how would you feel about me ( and others ) joining your club and maybe being like a Southern section ? Then we could use our energies for constructive purposes promoting the P6. I can safely say that I will not be renewing with P6ROC if it becomes Deborah's profit making ( for her ) business

Dave

Hi Dave,
Over the weekend, the RP6C display had a massive cast who were representing the interests of the Rover P6 Cars. However if your question was related to the P6ROC, I saw and spoke to many P6ROC members who attended as visitors to the event. I would also add, that all of those who I spoke to were asking questions. Questions which needed to be answered by P6ROC officials.
