New or Used Speeometer wanted.

Hi,
As the subject bar say's, i'm looking for a new or used speedometer for my 1974 3500 v8. If it is second hand, then all I ask, is that the mileometer reading be about 50 or 51K. My existing one shows a reading of approx 51,500.

I need to replace it, as the one in situ when driving, gives a reading in excess of 10mph more than it should! For example, when driving on a motorway at 70mph, the speed indicator shows 80mph....! Very dangerous for me or for anyone else who happens to be driving it....!

I have placed an ad in the "For Sale" section, but as yet no response!

To all of you who have "spares" lying around, please have a look for me, you never know......!

I don't think that your speedo is that bad.

Most speedos have a 10% variation so a s/h speedo may be just as bad.

The speedo in my P5B was recalibrated by Speedy cables (London) LTD. I did some measurements and sent it off to them as I had a 30% over read. It is now back in the car and appears to have 0% over read so I can recommend them. In addition they will set the odometer to what ever you want.

Are you running on a different tyre size? This will have an effect on the speedo reading.

No, the angle drives are 1:1, so won't make any difference at all.

The original poster could have a 2200 diff fitted in his V8, as that would cause an over read of about that amount at that speed.
 
Paul,

My spare says 11514.. about 40,000 too short for what you want, or 60,000 too high depending on which way you go ;)
