Are those 2 small oval speakers above the radio ?
That's a neat solution

Yes, it an effective point to put mid range centre speakers and still retain stereo information. I still have tweeters at the extreme left and right under the dash top and bass speakers under the front seats. The pocket they are placed in is still very usable as the space taken at the rear is only about an 1inch to inch and a 1/2.

Graeme

Any chance of a photo of the tweeters under the dash top - have been considering putting some in myself but above the dash shelf, not if they would fit there though ?

I havent taken too much trouble on the install of these being a bit of a lazy sort :D

Just thought i'd share my new stereo with you all.
I bought a cheap stereo mini amp from china on ebay which has mp3 connection, and have modified it with a new black perspex faceplate cut to size.
I've got large hifi speakers just on the back seats at the moment and the sound is incredible!
Very happy with result!

Can you use tweeters on their own without proper speakers?

I don't have photos of my set up but I have a modern unit set back so as to allow the Pukka Rover blanking plate cover to be fitted over it.

Colin

Yes, it's good to be able to have the blanking plate still fit.

I've just fitted a pair of small Kenwoods in Bruiser's centre console as at motorway speeds the rear speakers weren't really up to the job on their own.

I did the same job as Corazon (why your nick, BTW? It means Heart in Spanish) but with one condition: I hid the Chinese amplifier along with the MP4 (very difficult nowadays to find a basic MP3) in the driver glove box. This way I keep the Radiomobile in its original place. As far as I know the 1973 2200 SC only had the front speaker, while nothing arrears. This means that the Radiomobile works perfectly with the front (console) speaker and the MP4 works with a pair of vintage speakers on the rear shelf. I promise some pictures for tomorrow.

As it happens, I do think that the P6 is one of the few classic's in which a more modern stereo doesn't look out of place at all. After all it was a very forward looking motor car. As far as I'm concerned you can keep your Radiomobile MW/LW units, I prefer to keep the stowage bins for stowage.
It's all personal opinion though isn't it?

Yeah, of course, but perhaps you change your mind after seeing my pics.

First of all it's my Radiomobile in its place. Full order working, but no FM. I could agree that a modern radio CD or MP3 suits OK in our P6 but to be honest I prefer to keep the old crap and make up a new idea.

And this is the new device. Cheap and easy. I also think that I only use a small part of the driver's glove box. Nothing to be worried about.

Passenger glove box is plenty of space for car documents, a little torch, a folding glass... even a small tool kit.

Maybe you wonder how I turn the signal into sound. Here we go.

A pair of vintage speakers on the rear shelf do the job. They were a gift from the shop where I did the installation. It is not Studio 54 but the sound is more than enough for a car which is not my daily one. This car is just a toy.

I would like to share with you the other job I have in the hands at the moment. I got a pair of headrests for my car, but the problem is that they do not match with car's upholstery. I am so fortunate by having a wife with art in her hands:

In this first pic you see the original headrest, brown skin:

But my car is beige:

So, with a couple of cushion covers...

The final result is turning into this:

Hope you like. If not... well at least I hope to have given you some ideas for improving our cars, one way or another.
