NO BRAKES... - can you help my nightmare situation...

I can't understand it! I take my 1972 2000TC out for a wonderful drive on Monday evening & everything is is nice & tight, just as it should be. Then yesterday night (Tuesday) the brakes do not work at all, nothing, not a sausage! Could anyone shed some light on this for me please, i mean does this regularly happen on old P6's or should I expect it from an old car? Also could anybody tell me of a good, trustworthy mechanic in the Shepperton/Walton/Weybridge area please. All the best, please help me...

Usually brake failure with no external loss of fluid is a result of the servo seals failing and allowing fluid to leak into the air chamber. Is there any fluid still in the resovoir?

There is another type of brake fluid loss that is not visible for a long time.

I had a problem a couple of years ago with brake fluid loss from the rear calipers. The fluid was caught inside the caliper cover and did not appear as a leak on the ground for some time. If you loosen the caliper cover fasteners (two) fluid will come out if there is a leak there.

If the master cylinder seals go then you will end up with damp carpet under the brake pedal. Also the brake fluid can just vanish into the box section under the steering box. Magic vanishing brake fluid and spongy pedal!
If it is the second option then you will eventually find a nice little rusted hole in the base unit under the drivers footwell!
Cheers
GUY :)
