hi wondering if anybody can help i have a 2200tc i have rebuilt engine, refurbished starter motor. the engine turns over no problem but im not getting any spark, i put a mter on the wires going into the coil and get nothing other than a small, quick flicker of 12volts could it be the ignition switch or have i wired the starter motor wrong?

You need need to trace the wiring out. I am sure that one of the feeds for the coil come from the starter.

You may have connected the wires the wrong way round or left one off. Also make sure that you have broken off any of the wires.

I haven't done any work on the 2200 for some years, but the way the V8 works is this.

There is a live feed to the coil (9V), via a ballast resistor, from the top of a fuse which is in turn fed by the ignition switch.

You should have a live coil with the igniton turned on. If not, trace this wire first, back through the ballast resistor to the top of the fuse. Have you got a wiring diagram for the car?

Then, when the car is turned over, there is a live fed (full 12V) from the starter motor. This is probably the quick flicker you mention.

Can you locate a ballast resistor?

hi guys thanks for the help i do have a curcuit diagram im not the best when it comes to electrics. i dont have a live coil with the ignition turned on i tried to trace the wire back but i can't see this ballast resistor and fuse. what does it look like were can i find it? The wires going into the starter all seem to be there i will check there round the right way none seem to be broken off.

Any way you can scan the wiring diagram and email it to me?

The ballast resistor can sometimes be inside the wiring loom as a resistor wire.
