Occie gets some new carpets!

That looks terrific! A very classy combination. I don't think yellow carpets in my :D yellow car would work quite the way that red carpets do in a red car.

Nice one Stan,

We spend so much time on the outside, it's nice to put some effort to the interior, makes it so much more pleasurable to drive.

Of course after putting in the new carpet, we then put in the proper Rover mats which completely cover 80% of the carpet up!

Crackin' job though Stan, luvly job!

See you at Malvern!

Bri.

Bloody hell Stan, that looks fantastic! The edging trim seems to be a perfect match to the Buckskin seats and the red looks like it could have been a factory option.

Could I be a little controversial though and say that I think it looked better without the centre console trim on top of the tunnel?

Thanks guys!

Are the carpets glue backed? I bought a carpet set for a car last year - terrible fit (though I knew this from reading reviews on the net). I used a hairdryer for a few hours in certain places and the carpet softened and drooped into place after a while.

I like the red carpet!

The carpets aren't glue backed and need fixing with spray adhesive - I used a couple of half-litre cans. I think it's fair to say all aftermarket sets will not, to a greater or lesser degree, fit as well as original factory. And although there are a couple of bits I'm not totally happy with, this might be nit-picking and I'm generally pretty happy with the result.

Can't see me ever getting offered a job as a carpet fitter though! :)

Do you mean the extra edging trim, Paul? Must admit, I didn't realise the tunnel section would come in two pieces, and I would have preferred it in one, as original. It does make fitting a little easier though, so there is an upside. 8)

No, I meant without the plastic surround, round the gear lever and handbrake like in this pic

Obviously you'd need to make a gaitor for the gear stick and hand brake though which might be difficult. My first thought when I saw the pics was that it was a shame to cover up the carpet with the plastic surround that's all.

Ah...I see where you're coming from with that, Paul, but I think it would be quite difficult to get a good-looking solution with separate gaiters.

Wouldn't mind seeing the result though, if someone felt so inclined to have a go! :)

Hi Stan,

Carpets look fantastic! great combination, gives it a Roll Royce feel I reckon, brilliant!

New carpets really transform a cars appearance inside, great insparation for mine!

I have none that are worth mentioning LOL, well the passenger floorwell carpet had mushrooms growing out of it when I bought the car last yr!

Looks very smart indeed Stan, a bold decision to go for the red carpets but it does set it off very well, the seats look really good as well, what was the treatment you used for them ? by the way i have my lounge to re- carpet if your interested

The seats succumbed to the Woolies treatment....

If you do a search for "Woolies" on here with Brian-Northampton as the author, you'll get a fuller walkthrough on the method. (Thanks, Brian! :) )

I'm afraid lounge carpets don't float my boat now....I'm into exotic curves, such as P6 transmission tunnels!

Cheers,
