Oil Change / BW35

I am about to change the oil on my 1972 3500 Auto. The car has done about 70.000 miles, and to my knowledge, never had a oil change on the gearbox. Are there anything to look out for when changing, i.e. filters or other parts that should be changed as well. I have tried to look it up in both the owners manual and the repair operation manual, but can't find anything.

Thanks in advance !

Hello Petter,
No, no filters or anything else to change but remember that the torque converter hold quite a bit of fluid, so don't just fill with the amount (allegedly) required but check the level (with engine running) with about 2 litres to go.
Regards, John.

Not totally sure if this applies to the P6 but on the 800's you need to do 2 or 3 changes with a few hundred miles of driving inbetween to ensure the majority of fluid has been changed.

This is due to the torque convertor still holding a lot of old fluid even after draining the rest of the box.

The manufacturer usually quotes 2 figures for fluid quantity required, 1 figure for total capacity (includes torque convertor) and 1 for the quantity required for a drain and refill.
