hi guys, i had to leave my oil pump to run out of oil , so i pack it full of vasiline, then tried starting , i could not get any oil pressure, do i keep going , or re pack the pump again, i don,t want to damage the engine ??. paul

It's best to pack it full of vaseline, then turn the engine over with the plugs out until you get some pressure.

I wouldn't try to start it without oil pressure, although I must admit to doing so in the past as an absolute last resort. :shock: Not a good idea though
 
Make sure the oil filter is full of oil before you try to get oil pressure. Try taking it off, topping it up from the oil can and refitting. Otherwise the pump spends a while filling the filter before it gets round to trying to pump oil round the engine.
