In the process of buying a p6, anyone have any ideas on an owners club to join ? their are a few out their

Hi,

Have a look at the clubs section of this forum and then the website of each club. Choice is yours.

I have been a member of The P6 Rover Owners Club for over 20 years and am still a member.

Have a look at www.p6roc.co.uk

Go to the NEC Classic Car Show in a couple of weeks time. Both clubs will be there and you can talk to them and find out what they stand for and what meets your needs.

I could be biased (I've been a member of both clubs!), but ultimately the choice is yours.

If you can't get to the NEC, then ring them both up and have a chat to them and decide what you want from a club, what you can do for a club and what suits you.

For me a club means:
Run by the members for the members
Actively promoting the P6 through shows, restorations, getting in the classic car press, supplying cars for TV etc
Encouraging spares availability and the remanufacture of hard to get items
A friendly approachable committee always willing to help
and of course great members!

Bri.

Hi happydays
What P6 are looking to buy?
If you have a specific car in mind, please feel free to contact me by PM and I'll check to see if we or any of our members know it and can give any feedback.
Also, if you haven't bought a P6 before we have a useful buyers guide on our website at http://newsite.p6club.com/node/38 with a picture you can click on to see what you need to be looking for.

The Rover P6 Club will be displaying 10 cars at the NEC including one racing P6. Our display is in the corner of Hall 3 with the other member clubs of the Joint Rover Club venture, near to the Restoration Theatre. There is a layout of the hall with the rover clubs marked below.

I will be on The Rover P6 Club display for the entire show, along with most of the committee and a large number of other members, so please come along and say hello. I will be pleased to show what our club has been doing this year at the multitude of events covered and also explain all the services that are extended to members. Membership is £25.00 per year and runs for a full 12 months from the end of the month you join in.

Thank you for asking the question and if you need any further advice or answers please feel free to contact me by PM or at editor@p6club.com

Looking forward to meeting you at the NEC

I belong to both the Rover P6 Club and the P6 Rover Owners Club. The main difference between the clubs is that the Rover P6 Club is run by its members whereas the P6 Rover Owners Club is a commercial organization.

These are really the only 2 clubs to choose from although if you get dreadfully keen you may also wish to join the Rover Sports Register or a local all classics club as well.

Have a look at regional meetings near you. I believe the Rover P6 Club has regional meetings near Chester and the nearest P6 Rover Owners Club regional meeting is near Wakefield. Ask about them and contact the regional organisers.

Here is a review on Ciao of the Rover P6 Club.

Given the P6 Rover Owners Club changed at the end of last year when it ceased to be a members owned club it will take time before a fair and up to date comparison can be given and the only person who can do that is yourself.

I would certainly join the Rover P6 Club if I were you as they are a members club and I think the Chester branch is nearer to you in Manchester than the P6 Rover Owners branch in Wakefield. But you could like me belong to both clubs. For a small addition to your annual subs budget you can join both and decide for yourself.

Cheers

You're welcome to attend the Wakefield meeting regardless which (if any) club you join, ours has over the years transformed into an all-rover meeting incorporating branches of the RSR, P4 Drivers Guild, P5 Club and P6ROC.
