My 2200SC will not idle without some choke being applied. It is also doing about 10MPG. Is it down to the needle in the carb. being worn? Where is the best place to obtain a complete overhaul kit for it? Please help.

Sounds like it could be running very rich, and opening the choke just increases the throttle opening enough to keep it running. You could just try adjusting the mixture, although at 10mpg and with such bad problems I would suggest re-building or getting a replacement carb.

Last time I did mine I got the parts from a local carb specialist, I got gaskets, needles, jets and dampers. Still plenty of places selling SU parts, I'd try the Yellow Pages first, plus these places are usually cheaper than the Classic specialists.

hi john
before you go stripping your carb down, just check the air filter isnt dirty or blocked, you may find nothing wrong with it, but if it is cloged up you could end up saving yourself a shed load of work and money.
