Parking switch on Wiper Motor

Help please, a heater box hose split and soaked the switch with coolant. A few weeks later the wipers stopped self parking when switched off and the dealy sweep gets to 12 o'clock posistion and stops. The wipers work on slow and fast.
I removed the wiring block and found lots of corrison. I have cleaned the contacts on the wiper motor but can't clean the contacts in the conector block Any ideas how I can clean it up please.

Hi Glen

If you have the same wiper motor as mine then both of these faults, (no self park and delay stopping at 12 o clock), do indeed indicate that the parking switch is at fault. You can remove the switch from the wiper motor, once the motor is removed from the car, and give the contacts a good clean up and a dousing of contact cleaner.

Look here for my thread on restoring my wipers to full functionality, which shows the complete strip down of the wiper motor.

Restored Wipers

Once the switch is off of the wiper motor you can easily operate it, (a small button pushes in), and check the contacts with a meter, but I don't believe you can disassemble the switch further.

The diagram below from my thread, shows the parking switch states. Item 80 is the wiper motor with parking switch incorporated, and shows the contact numbers and cable colours. In the parked state, (which means that the small button is actually pushed in), the contact numbers 1 and 2 should be connected together, and with the switch out contact numbers 2 and 4 should be connected.

Obviously use the diagram for your own vehicle to get the correct connections and colours etc...

I have a faulthy switch, it is broken because of rusted pins. Needs replaced but where to get these.

Thanks.
