Rear Seat Reading Lamps

Does anybody have a picture of the rear seat reading lamps that fit in the back of the ET headrests? or can you tell me what they are the same as cos I quite fancy fitting a set. Or even better still has anyone got some I could purchase?

Regards Colin

These were a straight lift from the P5 MkIII and P5B. They are an oblong aluminium casting, open at the bottom, carrying a festoon lamp. There was a particularely nasty push button on off switch mounted next to them which invariably loses its push button with age!, so I wouldn't replicate that bit! They come up on e bay periodically, often as part of a P5 head rest. There was also a rather heath-robinsonish assembledge of suzzy wires, plugs and sockets to connect the headrests to the seat and the seat to a socket on the transmission tunnel. I would'nt replicate those either if your starting from scratch!

I have a pic but not a very good one - PM your email address Colin, and I'll email it to you.

Hi Chris
Richard very kindly sent me some pictures & I see what you mean about the wiring, obviously the mini suzies are to allow for headrest adjustment & sliding the seat back & forwards but Volvos dont have such things whenthey have heated seats etc. & they work ok so I was thinking more of the swedish approach as you can hide the wiring better, a good bit of twin cable running up the inside of the seat to the headrest with a discreet plug inside the headrest itself & that should do nicely & as for the switches I have some nice robust little metal toggle switches which would be just the job. All I have to do now is find the lights or find a suitable alternative as originality doesn't matter on a '67 2000 with boxpleat interior & V8 wheels with "S" trims & series 2 side mouldings
