Hello all.I was just wondering if the rear wheel bearings are
as difficult to change as they look.I have 2 series 2 V8's n/s/r
bearings to change so any advice would be much appreciated.

Rear wheel bearings are not that hard to do. You will need to remove the whole halfshaft from the De Dion tube first, but them it is simply a case of pressing out the old bearings and fitting new ones.
I have done this job 5 times now and it really is not as hard as it looks.

Its not too bad... done them on my 2000 last summer but be careful not to get any dirt in them , as I suspect thats what caused me to suffer failure after 50 miles ( on a FRESH MOT) I still have the mangled roller...
remove the split pin and slacken the drive shaft nut then jack up car etc..
unbolt the drive shaft from the disc
unbolt the hub from the elbow
lift the whole lot out and there you go
THE difficult bit I had was getting the inner races off the drive flange these are tight Very tight and need a good bearing puller - the type that clamps arounf the bearing - I used a "clarke" gear puller set from machine mart, I had to destory the bearing cage to give clearance and after that all was ok.... now somebody will tell me the easy way to do this ?
