Reasonable carpet set

Down&Out

Hi folks,

One thing i'm missing for my restoration is a good carpet set. Doesn't have to be immaculate but mine is threadbare, dirty and falling to bits. I don't know what the correct colour is supposed to be but i'm after something in the beige spectrum. Can collect if within an hour or so of GU10.

Cheers!

Sorry, i've got so used to this being a p6 forum i neglected to mention.

Yes, its for a p6, its a 2000 auto baseunit but dont mind if its for a different model if i can make it fit.

Mine's a 3500S so I'm not sure if the carpets differ at all?

The carpet set of £300-odd so I'd like to get a reasonable amount given its condition (I was thinking £100-odd on ebay so maybe £80 here?). I'm heading to Reigate in 10 days time so there might be scope for meeting up to hand over (otherwise I'm based in Birmingham and work in Wellingborough). PM me an email address and I'll get some photos over and you can see if you like them.

If you need anything else (boot carpets, battery cover, roof lining, whatever really) let me know and I'll get photos of that too.

Transmission tunnel is smaller on a manual than it is on an auto.... Would require quite a bit of alteration I think...

Manual carpets are bigger,so not hard to trim down to fit round the trans tunnel!
More difficult making smaller auto carpets bigger to fit a manual though!

If your carpet is Mortlake brown which most are, then the Coverdale set in Blenheim Ochre is pretty much identical in colour better still you can specify a cotton binding which again looks pretty much original.

Its polypropylene and not wool but it is tufted like the original. But there's a good argument in an old car that this is and advantage as it won't rot and smell. Usefully it's cheaper too.

I bought original NOS floor pieces from ebay and used the undamaged part under the seat in the old carpets to patch the threadbare parts of the sills. Surprisingly easy to do as long as you keep the pile in the same direction.

Buying brand new is hopefully a last resort. I had a good original one lined up for £100 posted but it fell through. Thanks for the heads up though, they arent a bad price for a good brand new one!
