Replacement Oil pressure transmitter won't fit.. NOW SORTED!

Re: Replacement Oil pressure transmitter won't fit..

Hi Tony,

It certainly looks the part, so hope it works just as well.

Ron.

Re: Replacement Oil pressure transmitter won't fit..

Looking at the box, it is made by a UK company by the name of Caerbont Ltd.

They are based in South Wales according to their website, http://www.caigauge.com

There are details of their UK distributors and a contact number for Caerbont themselves.

Now there's a pressure transmitter for you!

Yup, spotted that, and have also sent them an E-mail (just out of interest) to see how much I could have got one for.. Unfortunately, I didn't know where it came from til I actually bought it. Still, if I can sve anyone else some cash, it'll be worth it.. :D

Re: Replacement Oil pressure transmitter won't fit..

Well, sender unit is fitted, and gauge reads spot on what it used to when it last worked., so happy days!

Just had an email back from the manufacturer. These units cost £44.60 inc vat & postage in the uk from the link above if anyones interested...

Too late for me now... :x

That's strange,

I asked Demon Tweeks - who are listed as one of the manufacturer's distributors - if they stocked these, and got this reply....

Hello

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunatley Cai have discontinued that part number, they have not advised any alternative.

thanks

Subject: Parts enquiry...

Hi,

I’m after an oil pressure sender unit, part number PTR1812-06. It’s a Smiths replacement part. If you can supply me with one of these, could you tell me how much it would be, with shipping to SO24?

Regards,

Tony Buckle

Hi Tony,

That is a top outcome.. :D I found the U.S site that stocked them some months ago, offered some assistance to another forum member at that time who was looking for a Smiths replacement but received no word back. I followed up just recently by PM but unfortunately he has again chosen not to reply.

Hope that it provides great service for years to come.

Ron.

Cheers Ron. And thanks for the original tip-off.

I've always tried to follow up problems with solutions on here & other forums, I think it's important to spread the word, so that others can benefit. Hopefully I won't have to touch that part again for a few years... Its a bugger to get to..

The one i got through my local club was a Jaguar 50 psi sender no c15474

fitted like a charm and had no problems, and get the same readings all the time
Hi , just so I am clear you say that it’s for a Jag. 5 ltr. And part # c15474 have I got it right? T I A, Bert. Wanaka, NZ.

mY OLD sd1 SENDER is marked 1002/06 (same as new unit from RJW), but CAI dont list that number. The SD1 sender is marked '400 kN/m2', which is 58psi. The new sender doesnt have any marks about range, just the unit 'kN/m2'.
