Rover P5B Coupé

Surely standards is the wrong word. Changing their values to be more pragmatic is maybe a better description...

not a true restoration, with all the odd looking welded in panels, speaker boxes, incorrect gearboxs, staged with su s?
I guess the p5club is dropping its standards,im not a fan of modified classics as you may have guessed.

Do you still run crossply tyres out of interest? :)

It will be a conversion, a few have been done.

Now I really like that twin binnacle treatment with the extra clocks & I also like the matching green switches they've fitted. I like that car a lot!

Not a true restoration?? With all due respect the speaker boxes will never be seen. There are no odd welded panels. The restoration is meant to be as per original. The engine is still a 3.5 litre and the gearbox is an uprated BW gearbox. Not much of a modified classic is it?? I also don't understand your point about the P5 Club dropping it's standards. I suppose we will have to agree to disagree.

Now, if I had posted this up, I could maybe understand your point a bit more.

and that shouldnt upset anybody. a p5 has been kept on the road and makes it's owner happy. Fantastic obviously. only the owner has to like the car....

I agree with that.I respect all P5 and P5B owners cars, modified or not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It would be quite a boring world if all cars were the same. The car above has obviously had alot of work done on it too.

Its that crazy world of clubs, views, etc etc,
Theres i say 3 type of owners,
Theres the "this how it rolled out the showroom type"
Not fiddled with and are always great to see,
And youve got, shall i say you Glenn,"Original looks, with more usable practicality,
then theres the streetrodders/custom.
All with tons thing in common
love the look of a p5
spent thousands of cash
tonnes of time and all had rows with the mrs over it.
Everyone one a valid view..
OH did i forget the view of the p5b isnt a proper rover as BL watered down the original p5 quality/coupes was made for midgets.............theyre all out there.

It's been done! I can't find the pictures anymore, but it had a 4.6 and ZF box and a Jensen disc braked rear axle. I wasn't completely convinced by the side view, the car just looked a tad too bulky to stand 2 doors.

People have done 2 door conversions on Mk 2 Zodiacs/Zephyrs - looks OK if you lengthen the doors .Would look really cool on a Coupe

Is that an Irish registration on the coupe, Harvey?

The convertible is just georgeous! Based on the factory/Panelcraft 3 ltr that's now in Australia perhaps? Just right for a minor African dictator to parade in perhaps 8)
