seatbelt woes...

could one of you fair fellows out there help me please? my MOT is due in the middle of Decenber and true to form a problem has arisen! firstly the passenger side seatbelt lost it's inertia and un-wound itself then 2 weeks later the drivers side did the same! all that happened was a 'pinging' sound (almost like a needle hitting a tiled floor) hit my ears then the seatbelt just gave up! is it possible to fix this and give the seatbelt back its inertia or do they need replacing, i'm loathe to do this as they are in good condition and they are the original seatbelts too. please help me! all the best people, happy rovering...

As soon as you take the cover off, bits will no doubt fly everywhere. Probably easier to get a pair from ebay or a breaker than try to repair them. Or fit some while you repair/get them repaired.
