You would be brave ... whats the interior like. I think you would spend far far more than what it is worth. BUT you would be saving one and panels are not really expensive. If you like it, have the time and it is not beyond saving why not.

If it's sunk into the mud and / or been standing on wet grass it's going to be pretty rotten underneath
Its been stood there for 2 months and i now have it on drive its just rotten on cills and floor edges
regards

If it were mine,I would strip all the panels off it and have a really good poke around the base unit, every single inch of it!!!,especially in the inner rear wheel arches from inside the boot.If that area's gone then you would be better to salvage what you can for spares.Try to assess how much in time and cash it would cost you to do it,then add a grand+ on top just incase!! can you afford to spent up to or £4k plus restoring it! can you afford the time to do it? Look at what you can buy that only needs minimal work!! Its all well and good trying to save another from the grave, but unless you do a really good job on the rusty area's it will only delay the inevitable a year or so!
if you are lucky enough, and expert enough to be able to do all of the mechanicals, welding, spraying yourself with only minimal jobs farmed out to experts then have a go!!
Good luck if you decide to go for it!!

Hi,

Don't do it...!

I love P6's but as Pilkie says - there are good ones out there for not a lot of money.

Any sentimental value aside, this car will give you more headache than its worth!

I've learnt the hard way (several times - so I don't always practice what I preach!!!)

SHHHH!!! Dont tell anyone, but I was extreemly lucky to find it only 5 miles from where I live!!
I bought it as an almost completed but abandoned project from an old boy for £500 in 2001.
He had been doing it up since 1990,and was an engineer.
The base unit had been very well repaired, the suspension and engine all rebuilt, all panels freshly painted and had only been
trial fitted.
I found a excellent bronze leather seat set along with door cards and other trim for £80,had a set of carpets made, found the 14"rostyles along with the webasto roof panel.
It has been my everyday car since I bought it.and I reckon Its only cost me just over a grand all in!
Ive just finished my 1970 TR6 refresher-resto,ie stripped it and repainted it.
Dunno whats gonna be next, but I do know of a 69/70 2000tc in brigade red manual, with 20k miles genuine that I may buy this
weekend for not a lot!!
ps youve done the right thing!!!

You going for the Red One then Dave? I'm still tempted if you don't!

Pilkie:

I have a set of the 14" Rostyles as well. They were optioned on one of my 2000TCs and I keep them for the 3500. Do you know whether they are 5" or 5.5" width?

Since they were optional, I had hoped that they might be wider than standard.

James

Hi james

I will check the size on my spare set of rostyles, but I am pretty sure mine are 5.5j.
I also have a full set of original 2000 wire wheels complete with hubs and spinners, that I was going to fit,but these are 5j,so wont suit the 3500 with bigger tyres!

Dave
UPDATE!!
Yep they are 5.5j's I am running 195/70x14 Dunlop SP Sport tyres on them to give a lower look and better grip.
