SILL REPAIR

Hi 2diesels. I am in the same boat as you and needing similar bodywork repairs to inner sills etc. Although I am a little confused as to what bits go where, with the inner sills, body sill etc. The ends near the rear wheel arch as something of a rusty mess, and its hard to tell whats what. does anyone have any detailed diagrams or pictures of what goes where. ie: Which bits are the actual base lips for the sills and which bits are inner sills. I have sent for some sills from wadhams and this will hopefully make it a little clearer, but i could still do with help visualizing what goes where.

Im also sending for some rustproofer from Bilt Hamber. I am goiing to make sure a good job is done this time before its welded back up and Waxoyled. Hopefully this time the people at Bilt Hamber will put a stamp on the package, as i had to pay £3.80 excess postage for the last lot they sent me! :?

Hi I'm just new on here but was reading this string with interest as I am currently replacing the inner sills on my '67 2000 which had aluminium screwed over the bottom hiding all the nasty corrosion  . I am going down the route of repairing the inner inners but replacing the full outer inners as they are rotten right up past the jacking tubes  , I'm also replacing the D-posts & bottoms of the B/C pillars. I have found the panels from JRW to be a very good fit (with the exception of the base to floor panel) & excellent quality steel which welds really nicely. I will try & post some photos when I can

Hi fellas, welcome :D

The OP of this thread started a blog elsewhere on this forum,....well worth a read ,assuming you haven't done so already.

I have a 3500 that was very rotten, both sills, rear arches etc,...took me three weeks to repair it ,just got to finish off N/S/R jacking point

Ooh my word I thought mine was bad although saying that yours probably looks worse cos you can see the rusty metal whereas mine had been coated in thick underseal & all you could see was the holes.

Zardoz I think when you get your panels it will all become clear, it's not as scary as you might think but to fit a full inner sill you need to remove the bottom of the A pillar where it surrounds the jacking tube, the bottom of the B/C pillar & the outer D-post. I am replacing the full D-posts so I simply drilled out all the spot welds & the same at the front end then just cut off the centre pillar just below the little metal grommet, the driver's side is nearly finished now just got the boot floor to repair, the front hockey sticks to do oh! & then there's just the small matter of the passenger side sill
