Slide & tilt sunroof

Anyone know how many cars were fitted with the metal slide and tilt sunroof? This seems to be a very rare option - I've only ever come across one other car fitted with it and that was on the front cover of a car magazine.

I have no idea how many P6s were fitted with the tilt & slide steel sunroof, but I was told by the fellow I bought my '73 3500 from that they were a rare dealer-fitted option offered by H.R.Owen, installed by a company in Blackheath called R S Coachbuilt (contact Ron Ford by email at rscoachbuilt@btconnect.com or phone 0208 858 4312), who can do sunroof renovations.
Do you have a P6 with a steel sunroof?

Hello.
If you have a steel sunroof fitted to you P6 and its an original one, not taken from a sdi, then it was made by a company in Birmingham called "Hollandia".
Hollandia still make sunroof's and are still based in Birmingham, Ward End to be precise.
I once worked for a company and had to go to their premises to carry out some maintanance work and asked if spares were still available, as i once had one from a P6 that was burnt out, but alas no, but did have a very interesting conversation with one of the bosses there about the Rover P6.
He gave me a contact of a chap in Redditch who carries out repair work to the sunroof but unfortunatly i cannot remember his name. I am sure it could be possible to track him down again though.
I hope this helps you in your quest.
Regards
Paul. ;)

Also have just checked on the club data dase and we have a total of 364 P6's registered.
Unfortunatly it does not say if they are factory fitted as the owner's of the cars only say that they have a sunroof.
I can only asume that a very small portion of these are actually factory fitted.
???
Paul.

Mine is an original sunroof, with black vinyl covering on the outside and lining material on the inside.

hi paul,
i should think that the majority of the people that put down they had a sunroof will have a webasto fold back roof. i have never seen a tilt and slide on a p6 but about five sliding only ones, two of which were from the near of production end and were electrically operated, just a straight forward design being worm driven and if the motor packed in you could remove a clipped in piece at the back of the cars roof to expose a reversible ratchet and wind it shut ( or open ) manually.

That's what's in my '73, IanP6man is quite right, it doesn't tilt, I've just realised what that means, it just slides. It developed a quirky habit of opening all by itself when it rained, but declined to close electrically, so I had to wind it manually closed. I wore out the soft plastic four-sided piece on the ratchet provided, had to resort to a bicycle spoke key. Removed the headliner (and knackered it in the process like a f**kwit) to discover that the tray is virtually rusted away, but I've yet to remove the vinyl to find out if the roof is still salvageable.
I hope to renovate the sunroof and panel and recover it with new Everflex, if it seems feasible once I've stripped it.
I could do with some photos of an undamaged headliner indicating the width of the cloth panels and where the seams are, if anybody could help I'd be very grateful.

Mine has a chrome handle. Rotate it one way and the roof tilts, turn it the other way and it slides backwards.

There is a smaller section on the inner skin that also tilts, to allow air to flow, when the main outer section tilts.
