Hi all,
Recently I came across an interesting bit of information in the Rover Workshop Manual section for carb setup that more than implies how the V8 is prone to overheat with the stock cooling system. Thought it might be of interest in terms of disambiguation, for those of us who seek to improve the system with electric fans, three-core radiators and so on. Interestingly, it's not mentioned in the Cooling section IIRC.
As with other cars, when the needle heads for red, popular advice is to rev the engine for a while to make the water pump shift more hot coolant to the rad quicker, which works nicely whenever I've tried it. My dad's stock P6B auto responds particularly well to this in Cape Town summer queues...
