The Friendly Local Tesco's Empire has opened up a petrol station just down the road from me. Not that I'm complaining, the local BP garage charges 119p for unleaded because its the only place around, in fact, I think they just use the dartboard method to "calculate" the cost of the petrol per litre on any given day, seeing as it has no co-relation to the prices in the rest of town.
This Tesco's Petrol Station, however, is advertising 99 octane. I knew Tesco's did this as there are other Station's in town that sell 99 octane. The difference is that I've now got a local station selling it.
The 10.5:1 engine prefers 100 octane, so 99 octane + octane additive + lead additive = a close representation to y'old time original 5 star, no?
How much of a difference will this make to a 4cyl, is it worth setting the ignition to its original intended setting? Is it worth spending £5 a litre or however much it will be?
Regards
Fraser
