Hi all.

I think you would all like to join with me and pray that chrisyork is ok,after hearing about the incident in Thailand over the new year!!
I know he was on his way back there from his UK home on the 31st Dec!!

Chris???????? Please let us all know your OK mate!!!

Dave!!!

Very much appreciated Dave! Just arrived. I don't do Sukhumvit clubs any way - my stamping ground in Bangkok is around Silom/Surawong. Bear in mind Bangkok is a tad bigger than Greater London!

The family should be arriving in a minute in the pickup, so just looking forward to driving them the 3 1/2 hrs home on top of the 11 hr flight. Ho hum! The pickup is a 3ltr diesel auto Toyota complete with fake wood and alloys, so nice and comfy.

Regards All

Chris

Now had a chance to read a few of the local papers. It seems this club wasn't licenced as an entertainment venue, rather as a restaurant, and the owner had been getting away with it for a while. But the authorities had caught up with him and shut him down. The fire actually happened on the very last night open!! Hows that for really bad luck! Because the place had been licenced as a restauarant a lot of the fittings and in particular the ceiling weren't of a suitable standard for a club. So it was the ceiling burning that actually damaged most of the people. Rumours abound that the owner had distributed fire crackers to see in the New Year - cetainly they were the spark! Not really representative of most places in Thailand, rather a sort of underground student music dive.Anyway, I shall be a few days before I'm up and running properly - the screen on the laptop has losts its backlight so have to get that fxed first.
Regards

Chris
