Timing Cover Bolts

Oh no I here you cry!

Anyway, as some of you may know I've started striping my engine down to overhaul the top end and all's been tickety boo until I got to the last long water pump bolt. It's to the bottom left of the water pump and the head has sheared off so I thought fine, the timing cover is coming off so I'll be able to sort the remains of the bolt out then.

But, I can't get the timing cover off. So, I have two theories, firstly that the snapped bolt is seized in the hole through the cover or, that I've missed a bolt somewhere. Can anyone tell me how many bolts I should have?

Presuming, all the bolts are out am I now just left with tapping (hammering?) the timing cover off?

Cheers,

The shaft of the bolt could be seized in the timing cover, or you may have missed the bolt that's hidden behind the oil pump cover.

Thanks Harvey. I've loosened that bolt under the oil pump but can't actually get it out of the hole because the big pressure relief bolt is in the way.

I'm off now to see if the penetrating spray has worked over night. Would have liked to have started earlier today but I've had to solve a minor house hold emergency (mains water leak) this morning. There's always something isn't there?
