V8 Auto  - Loss of transmision fluid

Does anyone else suffer continual leakage of auto fluid when car is left standing? Is this a known problem? If so what is the cure?
My car is an original one family owned 3500 V8 with a genuine 70,000 miles from new. No major mechanical work has ever been done or needed - yet!
 
Colin, this is a leading question with many possible answers.
A little spilt oil goes a long way. What size patch in what period of time? Is it a leak from the g/box sump gasket? (Tighten sump bolts) Is it a leak from the flywheel/torque converter area? (i.e. front, middle or back of g/box) Is it a leak from the overflow pipe?
