V8 Front Caliper Pistons

Just received a set of new pistons from JR Wadhams. The 2 small ones are chromed as per original, but the large has some sort of black finish which doesn't look very corrosion proof, but Wadhams assures me it is.

Has anyone come across these type of pistons and do you know what the finish is and whether it is really rust prrof ?

Thanks, Mark..

Chrome? most of the pistions I have seen recently are stainless steel - much better long term! Weeklys do them, Plus try your local Motor factor.

The black may well be some chemical treatment to stave or rust, never seen it

Just fitted some- it looks like a chemical treatment like they use on gun barrels on stainless steel- probably going to last longer than chrome which tends to peel off.

I recently bought pistons and seals from www.powertrackbrakes.co.uk and they seem very good quality and the service was great as well .After building my calipers i realized i hadnt bought bleed nipples so i phoned them up to order a pair and was told that there was a minimum purchase policy of 7 quid or something but as the nipples were less than that i got them free of charge .
