V8 wiper delay unit wiring help wanted

Hi.

My wiper delay unit has never worked. The piston goes in and comes out progressively, but still no delay operation.
Before i take the thing to bits to see if the contacts are ok, has anyone got a picture/diagram of the various wiring positions on the delay unit? Just in case a previous owner has put the wiring back incorrectly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

In mine ,the plastic air line from the toggle behind the steering binacle to the wiper motor had split -rendering the delay useless

All the pipe work is ok, the mechanism moves as intended, with a short delay. The problem i think may be dirty contacts or wrongly positioned wiring. Thats where i need a diagram/drawing to ensure that the wires are connected in the right positions before i pull the unit to bits.
Thanks
Glen.

Sometimes if the delay is too short it doesn't give the wiper motor sufficient time to cycle back to the park position before the wiper delay contact breaks. This causes the wipers to stop mid sweep. Increasing the delay by replacing the sponge with a more dense material will slow the delay down and give the wiper motor time to cycle back to park before the wiper delay contacts break.

Cleaning the contacts may also help and the wiper delay unit itself is dead easy to remove and take apart. Using a fibre glass brush to clean the internal contacts helps. I don't have access to a wiring diagram just now and it's absolutely chucking it down with rain here so I'm not going out the car just yet.

If you haven't already figured it out here is a picture of the delay connections.

Hope it helps

Thank you Dave. Thats just what i was looking for. I'll have a look at the weekend & see if mine are in the same positions. If they are, then its a unit strip and clean.

Thanks again
Glen. :D
