Hi,
just bought a 1971 P6 2000TC and whilst driving it back I noticed a vibration coming from the rear when on the over run at speeds over 50mph, it will disappear again as soon as I apply the throttle. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Check the UJ's in the 1/2shafts. They can cause all sorts of noises if they're worn (does it clunk on take-off?). Check the propshaft one's too while you're at it. Once you're pulling you generally wouldn't notice anything until one disintegrates, though you could find the vibration appears at certain speeds if left. I went to John Peel's funeral last year in our 2200 & 12 miles from Bury St Edmunds the rear prop UJ fell apart. I'd been getting vibration from about 35 to 60 mph & overun noise before it happened. The AA got me back home very promptly allowing me to grab the 2000 (which I hadn't used as the 1/2shaft UJ's were also clunky) & shoot back up in time for the service. I was glad I made it.
Shame though! Music has a huge unfillable gap now. :(

there does not appear to be any clunking on acceleration or otherwise, general transmission does sound quite noisy though, will check condition of joints at the weekend.
