The fuel sender is very rare - have a chat with any of the specialists, but likely to be pricey. Since you are draining your tank it would be well worth pulling your sender and seeing if the problem is mechanical - like a non floating float. Repair of the reserve tap is easy - just a new O ring required, Have a search on here for explanations or post again and we can talk you through it.
