  • I would like to buy a Webasto Sunroof for a P6B. Must be complete with deflector, black and in useable condition. Will be travelling in UK in August/September and will pickup, cash on collection. Please reply via email.

I'd like a lot of things in life, including a please, thank you and maybe even a hello.

Have you thought about looking on ebay? What kind of price are you thinking of?

  • Sorry for my ignorance, but there is at least one please in my request. I have been searching Ebay for some time now
and have not seen a complete sunroof listed, so have not got an idea what price they sell for. Thank you for your reply.

They do turn up occasionally on eBay but tend to go for high prices. Be careful as a lot of people use the term Webasto as a generic term even when selling Britax sunroofs which seem a lot more common. Genuine Webasto ones are better engineered but I have a Britax sunroof on my Triumph that's excellent and another on my project P6. I'd value them at around 150 pounds each going by prices I've seen on eBay.
Add another hundred at least for a Webasto in decent condition.
Sizes vary - the Britax on my P6 is about 35 by 42 inches long; Triumph one is about 32x32 - same as a Mini which it came off.
A "Tudor Riviera" on a scrap P6 I bought was somewhere in between.
So if you're fitting it to a blank roof you don't need to be too particular.

Condition - obviously you don't want any tears, but the other problem is rust on the steel panels at the front and back ends. This can be felt as blisters under the vinyl covering and will need stripping and treating if present. At which point you risk damaging the covering.

  • Hello Willy. Thanks for your comments. My car has a painted roof, and I have a spare roof that I would like to fit a sunroof in, if I can find one. I have seen a few in Rovers here in NZ, but they don't come on the parts market. I guess it would be possible to fit an electric sunroof from a Jappa, there are lots of those here, but I would prefer to have a period sunroof. My car is only used occasionally, and always garaged. I guess they are still available new. Do you know of any suppliers? Its not the end of the earth if I don't one, but thought I would look as I will be in UK during August/September. Cheers. :D

Last time I saw a new one, it was for about £700 inc fitting.

I picked up a brand new, never fitted one for £350 and had it shipped from Holland. It'll be going in to replace my existing one which needs the outside recovering, although it's perfect inside. They're also heavy, so you'll have to watch the weight limits when flying home.

I'm sure that there used to be a place down Dunedin way that did them a few years ago..

Oh, and hello Dave! ;)

Peter Harvey is the name that generally comes up regarding folding sunroofs. I've bought a couple of parts from him and found him very helpful but he doesn't seem to have a web presence. He used to advertise in classic car magazines and may still do so.
