What size/number battery for a 1973 3500s ?

I did a search for past items on this topic and came up with numbers 071 (which is what I have) 078 and 369/069. These numbers don't feature on any list I've tried. A supplier on EBay tells me I need an 072 .

I was hoping a cheap battery from Eurocarparts/GSF might do. Can anyone who's bought a battery recently which fitted in the box advise what they got and the cost

Thanks

Dave, I purchased an open bar rubber battery from Lincon Batteries in Leigh on Sea Essex about 2 years ago. I'm not sure if this is near to you, but I quoted the car model only and they came up with the right one that allows the frame, hold down studs and lid to be fitted. It also fits in the plastic box snug.

Price-wise I can't remember exactly how much it was but it was fairly reasonable in comparison with other outlets.

Looks like a 291 is the one to have .I think V8's had 091 batteries until they became obsolete and 071's were used

Nothing in my catalogue of modern batteries looks a good fit in the box

I bought a battery off the shelf from kiwk fi, perfect fit and capacity etc.

Was about £60 but that was 18 months ago. It was in their stock list and as above it was on the shelf.

Might be worth giving them a ring.

Try and get a battery that is 13 plate and is over 500 CCA (cold cranking amps). You will need this for a V8 and also for the English winter. And make sure it fits in the battery container of course!
