winguard mirror glass

Hello all,
Just bought my first P6 after years of owning various other classics, Hillmans, Fords etc, and was wondering if anyone out there has a spare glass for a Winguard door mirror?
I know I could probably get one from a local motor factors that `might` fit, but rather have the real thing. Hoping to meet some of you at club gatherings etc.

Hi Kiltyarse,

Welcome to this forum, and to the world of the P6. I hope that you will enjoy owning and running your P6, tell us more about it!

Hopefully someone can help you with this mirror glass, keep an eye on eBay, you never know!

Mike

Some of the more old fashioned motor factors will sell a piece of universal mirror (plastic) that you can cut to size with a hacksaw.Worked OK when I used it

Do you have the broken glass or can you remove the other and draw round it. I can get into a motor factor's trade only that has a big display of mirrors.
What I should say is I have legitimate access during business hours as that sounded like I sneaked in at night when no one was around!
With a name like kiltyarse I would assume your scots, are you in scotland?

Cheers for all the replies folks! No I`m not in Scotland anymore, moved to Bristol. I just discovered I have a few old mirrors in my garage in Southampton where I have some parts for my Imps in storage, and I`m sure one will fit!
I just bought the car, literally yesterday, drove the 150 miles home with no probs. As I`ve posted elsewhere on the forum, it doesn`t seem to like being driven slowly, in traffic? It`s not a major problem- I know that from experience with other larger twin carbed engines, but if there is anyone in my area with a vast knowledge of owning/driving P6s who would like to take it for a blam, and let me know what they think, I`d appreciate it very much. All expenses paid of course, or I could bring it to you. Can be contacted here or ring me on 0117 9083815. ???

Hi, I'm a bit late, as usual(never home), there is a winguard mirror for sale on e-bay this weekend. Not sure how long it has to run though.

You do not have to buy a new door mounted rear mirror if the glass is cracked or broken. For years I drove an Australian Holden with a cracked mirror thinking I would have to buy a new mirror (if I could find one).It was very similar to the mirror on my 3500s. A friend told me to take it to a local glazier which also did automotive work. They removed the old broken glass and fitted a new one. They apparently have some sort of tool which bends back the stainless steel lip around the mirror and fitted the new one. Cost? $10 (four Pounds). Among the paraphernalia I inherited with my Rover is what I understand is some sort of licence holder. It is about 95mm in diameter, clear on the outside and matt brown on the rear with "rover" on the top and "by appoinment" etc in silver letters underneath. It is still in its original packet (although the original adhesive has long since dried up). If any member wants it, I will post it to them.My email address is jhnlsn@ihug.co.nz (I suspect my 3500s may have been UK assembled, but thats another story)

Again this weekend on e-bay there is a winguard mirror advertised at a buy now price of £14.99 + £4 p&p. This item was also bidding at about £9, item No. 4627743992. about 6days 6hours left. For sale in Chester, seller, Str1230. Gawd I gotta get a life!! :p

I've just put mine through an MOT and used a piece of the universal plastic cut to shape, as the existing mirror was cracked. This was sufficient for the mot test, but isn't as good as a glass mirror.

Dave.
