Wipers don't Park - RHD 3500

Hi all,

I did several searches, but all I could find was problems with the delay and teh same problem with a LHD 2000 after the wiper motor was changed.
None of this applies to my car.

As I mentioned in the subject, the wipers work well, but stop immediately when I switch them off without returning to the park position. I checked all wires and they seem to be connected.
Hence my question is, whether someone could please explain where the park impulse is coming from, i.e. where I can measure whether I have one or not.
Any other ideas would be welcome too, of course.

Cheers,

Christian

Hi Christian,

One of the terminals at the back of the wiper switch should stay live when the switch is turned off until the park switch in the motor interrupts the supply. I believe it's cable colour is Brown/Light Green.
If you've got a helper and a test lamp/multimeter, you can check the voltage on this cable at the delay governor/wiper motor connector block whilst the helper in the car operates the switch with the ignition on.
If it's not live, it'd be worth popping the switch panel out to check the connection.

Do you have the cable-operated wiper arrangement? There's a write up on the Lucas 14W motor at the bottom of >this page.< (The 14W is similar to the 16W Rover used).

Cheers,
