Its possible that it was built in 1971 making it an extreemly early 3500s,then exported to the Isle of man or Jersey, then re imported in 1975,and when first registered in the UK,given its current plate,as the dvla wern't to fussed back then,as long as the plate was in the ball park so to speak!ie it was in between the dates when roughly it was built and re-imported.
As it could potentially be a tax exempt car!! The only way to tell exactly when it was built is by the chassis no!! If you dont want to pay the fee to heritage, you could let us know and we can tell you how close it is to a known vehicle within the club!

Thanks all.

I am looking at another two 3500s's on Tuesday. I think I'll leave that one.

I want a Monza read one really, like my old one.

A little birdie tells me that the chassis plate is a 'C'. So that would be more in line with a '73 or '74-ish. (Has the short gear stick and ambla seats by the look of things too).
As Pilkie says, it's probably been re-imported in '75.

That is exactly what happened to my 1973 2000 auto, which is why it's on an S plate. Something to confuse the anoraks, "They stopped making the 2000 in 1973, how is that a 1978 car then my son???", I will show it one day, just driving it is too much fun at the mo.

(someone is going to correct me on that now?)
