    Beryl on track

Good job. Looks like you now have plenty of front end grip, able to hit all your apexes. I admire the Lime Rock a really beautiful track, especially with the Preservation Class. When you were chasing down the Lancia, I was singing 'The self preservation society' song.

    fuel vaporisation

It's part of the ignition also referred to in an ignition system as the Condenser. Read up about why a capacitor in an engine system is called a condenser. Interesting, they say it goes back to Watt and his steam engines. I'll put my tuppence with Julian. Buy a cheap one, try it. If the cheap...

    Oil pressure

Oil pump needing primed would be my guess, yes they can drain the oil back to the sump. If you can turn the oil pump enough it may prime itself. If you have the oil filter off, fill up any ports you can get to, hopefully some may get into the pump and let it pump air until it raises the oil from...

    Energy drink advert

Happened to me too, but the bugger stung me on the forehead. I stopped and removed off the helm. Quickly the sting swelled up to a lump. I physically couldn't put the helmet back for ages.....

    P6B S Project Car

I successful sealed the water pump with an old inner tube rubber as a gasket; I got up to 70psi. I put an extra strap clamped to the block on the side with the dowel. (Steel bar; bolt one end and Red clamp to valley web at other end)

    Classic motorbikes

I guess if you are worried that you'll be stuck at the side of the road with an old broken Rover; you'll not buy or use one. But then we know they give less hassle than a modern. Similarly, if you don't think motorbikes are for you; you'll not buy one. You'll never experience the friendships...

    Classic motorbikes

Phil, I've owned a BSA Starfire for the last 40years. Use use it regularly and it keeps up with modern traffic; not the individual car driven hard, but with the traffic bubbling along at 50mph. Don't put too much thought into the performance of your first bike, just buy one and use it. I agree...

    Fitting SD1 ignition into a P6B

A spring pin (roll pin) would be the thing. It self grips the hole stopping it sliding out.

    Fitting SD1 ignition into a P6B

Hi all... Here's a link to all the info you'll ever need for these ignition modules : General Motors HEI Ignition Modules I'm running a modified SD1 Vitesse dizzy With the std Lucas module I'll replace the Lucas Module when it fails, with the Intermotor 15210 Ignition Module I have in a...

    Brake Light Switch

I agree, last time I changed mine I did so at the side of the road, virtually nothing dropped out and no need to bleed the system. However, if you seal the reservoir cap, by screwing the cap over a film of plastic, this will hold the fluid in the reservoir stopping it draining into the system...

    High level brake light

To explain the first reply; If there is a common earth used by both the heater and high level light, then if it is not earthing (broken, corroded etc) the light is not being earthed locally. When you turn on the demister, the 12v will pass though the demister and because it's 'local' earth is...

    Triggers Broom

Good rebuild. I like to repair and reuse. So, I need two things; the ability to repair to a standard I'm happy with and the time. I enjoy repairing anything, from your example of a car panel, to removing the cracks from house ceiling plaster. Maybe not a good example as not that dissimilar...

    stealing an idea

Does a 1932 Alfa Romeo 6C classify? It's all been done before. I explain why I'll not be mounting my spare wheel on the P6 or our MX5, or none of the motorbikes; with an anecdote: I was sitting for a guy in an Alfa 6C at the weekend for a Vintage Car Rally. At one point we where driving up...

Slight Exhaust Gas Smell In Coolant

Unfortunately, I'd say it is the head gasket. The manifold gasket will need to be removed before removing the heads, so it can inspect it first. I'm no expert in the Rover V8 engine, but it seems to a thing for the V8 engine to fail the head gaskets and pressurize the coolant. I'm chasing the...

    Making a slam panel removable?

That's for the ideas. Think I'll use both suggestions, combine the captive nuts with a positive location. Either way, removing the engine is going to be a joy.
