Decided after many years away from P6s to get back in. Drove the one below today. 1974, 9.25:1 CR, UK built exported to Oz, not a NZ CKD car. Presents extremely well - paint is newish, pretty well done, no visible overspray. Engine bay is clean, nicely black, engine cleanish, but not obviously tarted up as it might be by a dealer - visible oil leak here and there, drop of water out of pump after a short run. Oil is nice and clean, but inside rocker cover is dry.
Upsides - paint, external presentation is good. Interior is very good - seats clean (dark fabric), new carpets (not quite right, but OK), new door cards all fit well.
Downsides - front seats have been repadded, but overdone. Steering a little woolly in the centre. Very sloppy gear lever, clutch a little odd - but these are very hard to get used to IMHO!
Has Konis on the front, but set at hard, not very flexible.
End plan is to do up a 3.9 injected and fit it with an LT77 - or R380 if findable!
Very tempted if the price is right. Not worried by mechanical issues, and seats are fixable.
Will this car have the electric fuel pump?
