I run 8 degrees btdc on my 2000 Sc running 95 octane petrol.Another thought, 4btdc might not be advanced enough. Bear in mind that the original advance point on ignition timing was for leaded fuel and not modern fuel.

I had my distributor move in the retard direction on me once! Things started to get hot!My TC with timing retarded got close to overheating once I stayed over 80kph for a while.
Harvey wins the goldfish. Today I had all my valve clearances checked, and to my horror, my clearances are well outside of the tolerance. Now, where did I leave that bucket full of shims? Thank you Harvey.Have you checked the valve clearances?
Thanks for the update, it’s always good to hear what the problem is. Let us know how it feels when you have the valves adjusted.Harvey wins the goldfish. Update time, it has taken some time because I have been busy, anyhow, my head has been rebuilt with new valves valve guides and all the gaps are now correct. The good news is I can now drive uphill. It was a good spot from Harvey, it wasn’t cheap getting it all done, but well worth it.Thanks for the update, it’s always good to hear what the problem is.
