When adjusting the tickover on the 2000 TC model, I have found it best to adjust the rear tickover screw ONLY.
This will open both carb butterflies equally due to the positive linkage between the carbs, rear to front.
However the front carb tickover screw is independant and has no...

To save weight the 4 cylinder engine casting has no sides – instead two pressed steel “side plates” are bolted on to seal the water chamber. With the side plates removed you can see the cylinder liners. The reason that these items crop up in postings is that they corrode over time and leak...

Hi Arthuy
The lamp unit could simply be glued in place where it overlaps the flange around the wing lamp aperture, not ideal but invisible, secure and serviceable. And won’t cause any difficulty changing bulbs, lenses etc..
You could possibly chop the bits you need out of otherwise scrap...
Hi it sounds as though the carb dashpot piston is sticking . At full throttle the piston rises , at lower speeds it should fall, if it sticks in the up position or falls too slowly it will cause the engine to stall due to incorrect rich mixture.
You can test this by removing the air filter...

Hi
Try Frost Auto restoration service www.frost.co.uk, they do a whole range of specialist "detailing" paint finishes including underbonnet black, correct chassis black, cadmium plate effectfor servos , etc etc - loads of useful stuff and well worth a look.

Does anyone have experience of balancing twin SU's (HS8)using vacuum gauges on the manifold side of the carbs ?
I have used a crypton balancer which goes over the inlets but with this I could only check one carb at a time and I am convinced that it had a choking effect on the carb being...

It would be worth checking the vacuum advance connections, especially the two elbows one on the carb, the other on the distributor, these tend to split with age and its not always obvious.
Take the pipe complete with elbows off and BLOW down them (it clears any gunk out) then put a...

Hi Gary, I cant answer the question as to which is best , but if you decided to go with the standard bushes then give S & G Walker a ring, They are retiring and clearing stock - I got a set of rear bushes at approx half price just before Christmas. Worth checking them out if you need anything...
Thanks for that, I hoped it would be condensation but deep down feared the worst, everything is now cleaned and there is no sign of emulsified oil anywhere except in the breather pipes - so fingers crossed.
