is there a gasket between the 2 halves of the case and its top (594263)? or do i need to smear with instant gasket? or just leave as bare metal to metal?

Thanks HarveyP6 that makes sense. I presume we will need to remove all the paint so that it is a smooth metal surface for the oil seal to run on.
