    Square Wheel Award

I scanned this for another forum, and I thought some here might enjoy it too. It's the article from when the AA's Drive magazine gave the 1975 Rover 3500 an award for being... well, not exactly car of the year. Whole article here: Square Wheel Award As the owner of a 1975 Rover 3500 I've...

    What's missing here?

I've been under the car trying to find out where all my brake fluid is going. It's coming out of this caliper somewhere. Shouldn't there be a cap of some sort on this threaded part? What exactly is missing, and what did it do? I know it's not the cause of the leak.

    Speedo Angle Drive BW35/65

Do the BW35 and BW65 use the same speedo angle drive? Wadham's list theirs very specifically as BW35, other suppliers don't.

Some Surplus New Bits and Bobs - inc Brake bits

In the course of maintaining my 3500 I've accumulated a selection of surplus parts. Now I would like to exchange them for money, which I will spend on petrol. The following parts are brand new and unused. All were purchased within the last year. Prices include UK postage. International postage...

    Partial Electrical System Failure

I was bleeding my cooling system this afternoon and left the car idling on the drive while I went to get some water. When I came back, it had stopped running. The electric fuel pump wasn't running. No power getting to it. There is no power to anything which runs in the accessory position -...

    New Electronic Ignition, no spark

I have installed a Powerspark electronic distributor, with new coil and leads. I cannot get a spark from the coil. I believe it's wired up correctly - I took a 12v feed from the fusebox (#19) to bypass the ballast resistor, provided the distributor with a good earth, and connected the red wire...

    Thank you SO MUCH

... to whoever in my car's history ran a bead of weld over the top of one of my jacking points so the jack wouldn't fit in the tube. That was really helpful. I suppose I should count myself lucky I discovered this on my driveway, and not on the hard shoulder with a flat tyre! Used cars, eh?

    V8 losing power

Posting from layby, forgive brevity. Car idles and revs normally in neutral. Accelerates perfectly up to 30 mph, then starts to lose power. Limped off the motorway slowly, it won't go over 35 mph and the power is pulsing in and out. I have changed the condenser, the carbs look okay, etc Ideas?

    Unclosable Quarterlight

My passenger quarter light won't close completely. I've had a quick peek at the mechanism but can't see any obvious adjustment. The knob only reaches the mechanism with the door card off and the glass is just resting in the frame so I wonder if it's just been mangled by an idiot or something...

    Cheap MOT'd V8, £1k

Here's a drive away, tax exempt V8 with almost a year's MOT. It looks presentable enough in the photos. The seller has previously tried to sell it for £1800 with no takers. Now he's trying again for for £1000, after selling both the bumpers and immobilising the car by disconnecting bits of the...

    Caliper part (#601910)

Part number 601910 on this diagram, little plate for rear caliper. I have just been informed by email that I need one or two of these with some urgency (since my car is stuck at a garage with no brakes). None of the usual suppliers seem to sell this part. Can anyone help?

    V8 Servo Required

I need a 3500 servo. Mine was sent off for reconditioning almost three months ago and there's still no sign of it, and now the garage who have had my car for that time understandably want it off their premises. Does anyone have a usable V8 servo I can buy (or loan until my recon unit arrives)...

Front Sidelight/Indicator Units and V8 Wheels

My project 3500 is nearing the MOT stage but came with no front indicator/sidelight units. I'm looking for a pair in usable condition, the state of the chrome and lenses is not a concern. I'm also looking for a set of V8 wheels for it, within reasonable distance of South Manchester. Again...

    Irregular Oil Leaks, Crankcase Pressure?

When I bought my car (1970 2000TC) in February I don't recall it leaking any significant amount of oil. Now it does this: Untitled by cdconelrad, on Flickr But it's quite irregular. It did that after a 25 mile trip, the same trip the next day produced only a couple of drips. A long trip a...

New member with a familiar 2000

Hello 8) I've always wanted a P6, and I just impulsively bought one. I wasn't in the market for a new car, I wasn't really in the position to buy a new car, but there will be time to worry about those things later. I picked it up on Friday. It's a series 1 Tobacco Leaf 2000 TC previously...
